Saturday Update

Updates on everything planted so far.

The dill, while the oldest, are still the weakest plants (here in the south-facing window).

The borage is coming up, and is indoors in a south-facing window for the moment.

Same for the spinach and mustard, although the seedlings are a bit smaller and weaker looking.

I also had a garlic clove start sprouting. It's probably not a spring garlic variety, but I put it in a pot anyway. Just something to burn up that excess gardening energy!

I also grow quite a few non-food useful plants, like this aloe that's been wintering indoors.

The veg box potatoes chitting in the north-facing window.

These are the commercial seed potatoes that are a bit behind the veg box ones. Also the pots with the jerusalem artichokes which unsurprisingly aren't showing any sign of life yet.

Outside in the cold frame, the carrots are growing a bit, and the radishes are nestled amongst them.

Video - Peak Moment: Back Yard Sustainability

An inspiring video for renters and others who don't own their land. Unfortunately, here in the UK, most people can only dream of having this much space.

He mentions packing seeds in your bug-out bag, something I had never thought of. Even if you can't grow them yourself, they'd be good to trade.
